Stupid and funny Star Trek parody ... thing. Stephen Colbert as Spock just about slayed me (and Jon Stewart was Khan!) not to mention the surprise Christopher Walken.

In other news, I was reading the AC360 blog and found this story on why Americans need to know more about our fair country up here. Which I don't necessarly disagree with, I mean ... we're right here. We don't have much of an excuse for having poor relations. Anyway, it reminded me of a book I recently read called The U.S. of Eh?

It was written for Americans. Why? To show them that we're the ones who are actually pulling the strings :-D There are Canadian connections EVERYWHERE, and this books uses them to prove that we are, in fact, America's benevolent overlords. I recommend it to everyone on my flist :-D

There other day, on my drive to university, the radio was having a love-affair with Obama. Seriously. Have you all heard about the Canadian radio station compiling a list of '49 songs from above the 49th parallel'? It's an Inaugaration mix for Obama, from Canada, and you can read the list here (I'm rather partial to Canada's Really Big).

Also, now that I've listened to American Woman ... wow, that's not very flattering, is it?)

That isn't the only thing that CBC Radio 2 has done for Obama; they haven't stopped talking about him (admittedly, he's coming up here in a few weeks). What I found most amusing was the rendition of La Bamba reworked as Obama. It was hilarious. On a similar note, my ASL prof was in my Language Studies class to give a lecture on signed languages and how they are different than spoken ones, and he told us how the Deaf community had given Obama a sign name. It kind of mimics his campaign logo, it's an O with a wave under it.

Oh, and while I'm here: my family was in Ottawa on the weekend, and passed by a street called Elvis Lives Road XD

I had a dream last night, the first one I have been able to remember (a bit of) in some time.

In my dream, Anderson Cooper and Rahm Emanuel were on television together. In fact, they were hosting some sort of telvision program ... kind of like The Daily Show, actually, which doesn't make sense for either of them.

There was a lot of giggling and, um, flirting going on. At one point Anderson squeezed Rahm's thigh and then kind of spun around in his swivel chair ... I think my unconcious mind took Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert, and just stuck their personalities in Emanuel and Cooper's bodies.

It was weird, is my point.

Okay, so I had heard about this Rahm Emanuel guy before. It was some time last year when I heard about the table-stabbing incident, and I thought it was intriguing but that was it.

Then the States went and voted Barack Obama as president, and what did he do? Pick Rahmbo as his Chief of Staff. Suddenly there's all this fangirling all over my fan journal flist, and I decide to join the fledgling community rahmbamarama only to be overwhelmed by the SHEER EXUBERANCE of the Rahmdom.

Check out this brief overview of Rahm's ... appeal.

Oh, and Rahm facts. They're like Chuck Norris facts ... only completely true.

I find the whole thing very amusing.

ETA: Oh man, I want this bag! If CafePress accepted PayPal, it would already be on its way to me.

Congratulations, my American flisters, for electing a new president most of you seem very pleased with. He seems like a pretty good guy. I've been reading this post, however, and I have to admit that it hasn't left me very optimistic.

So, what was the verdict on prop 8?

Today we had our first real test in American Sign Language. It was a vocabulary test - the professor signed and we wrote down the translation. Because this was our first one, it was only 75 words, while the rest will have 100. I think I did pretty well ... I missed a few, but not very many, so that doesn't have me worried.

My first two assingments are due on Friday, a journal for Sociology and some questions for Linguistics. Almost done those.

You now what's really annoying? Whoever sets these things up has decided to broadcast the Leader's Debate on October 2nd. This is the same date as the American Vice President debates, in fact, I think they coincide. Now there are people who actually aren't sure which one they want to watch, not to mention Canadians who plan on watching the American debate rather than our own.

Why wasn't it schedueled for another day? The American one was already set. This was avoidable. Gah.

Voter apathy is too common around here.

Sigh.
