Stupid and funny Star Trek parody ... thing. Stephen Colbert as Spock just about slayed me (and Jon Stewart was Khan!) not to mention the surprise Christopher Walken.

In other news, I was reading the AC360 blog and found this story on why Americans need to know more about our fair country up here. Which I don't necessarly disagree with, I mean ... we're right here. We don't have much of an excuse for having poor relations. Anyway, it reminded me of a book I recently read called The U.S. of Eh?

It was written for Americans. Why? To show them that we're the ones who are actually pulling the strings :-D There are Canadian connections EVERYWHERE, and this books uses them to prove that we are, in fact, America's benevolent overlords. I recommend it to everyone on my flist :-D

There other day, on my drive to university, the radio was having a love-affair with Obama. Seriously. Have you all heard about the Canadian radio station compiling a list of '49 songs from above the 49th parallel'? It's an Inaugaration mix for Obama, from Canada, and you can read the list here (I'm rather partial to Canada's Really Big).

Also, now that I've listened to American Woman ... wow, that's not very flattering, is it?)

That isn't the only thing that CBC Radio 2 has done for Obama; they haven't stopped talking about him (admittedly, he's coming up here in a few weeks). What I found most amusing was the rendition of La Bamba reworked as Obama. It was hilarious. On a similar note, my ASL prof was in my Language Studies class to give a lecture on signed languages and how they are different than spoken ones, and he told us how the Deaf community had given Obama a sign name. It kind of mimics his campaign logo, it's an O with a wave under it.

Oh, and while I'm here: my family was in Ottawa on the weekend, and passed by a street called Elvis Lives Road XD

I heard about this incident on the radio this morning. When I was in the car. With my dad XD

The DJs were laughing so hard, it was hard not to get caught up in it. I can't believe she said that, I'm cringing with embarrassment just thinking about it.

I am also laughing out loud.

Neil Patrick Harris thinks Anderson Copper is 'dreamy' :-D I think I read a fic like that once.

SGA guest stars include Canadian comedian, TCR guest, and childhood favourite.

Surprise musical!

British family refused entry to Canada. Hmm.

Hamlet (Facebook Edition).

Douglas, by [info]sam_storyteller. [info]colbertobessed and I were just talking about this idea the other day!

Calling all Canadians! I highly recommend watching the television show Strangers With Candy. Canadians can watch the whole series on thecomedynetwork.ca. My favourite episode is here.

(There is nothing more amusing than Noblet crying, which sounds horrible, but it is true. Why, Geoffrey? Why?!)

Have I ever mentioned that I have a phobia of large sea life? Yeah. This counts. I get the shivers just looking at that thing D:

On a lighter note, I have fallen in love with David Sedaris. Oh, why haven't I ever read one of his books? I need to find one as soon as possible.

(For those who have access to it, here is the video of David Sedaris' interview on The Daily Show)

Now I'm not sure who is more adorable, David or Amy.

Apparently it was 'Act Like A T-Rex Day' on the fourth, which I did not know, but colbertobsessed mentioned it.

I missed the actual day, so I offer this in compensation

(For your viewing pleasure: The Daily Show's Greatest Millenium special wherein, at timestamp 12:00, Stephen does a T-Rex impression to hilarious effect.)

ETA: ... Okay, give me a minute for the video ...

ETA 2: Sendspace link added. I don't like Badongo :-(

I don't suppose anyone on the flist watches "Live with Regis and Kelly", do they? Ah. Well, I don't either, BUT I regularly watch the clips from Anderson Cooper's guest appearances on the show (he sometimes substitutes for Regis).

He was co-hosting on Friday, and it included thigh-dancing (and other excercises but, really, the thigh-dancing is the most interesting). I can see why they scheduled this segment for a day when Regis was not there :-P

Check it out. All the women are following Kelly's instructions ("Gyrate!") but Anderson and the only other guy seem ... reluctant. Anderson doesn't like doing any exercises that draw attention to him :-)

Three things today:

1. Wil Wheaton recently linked to some webcomics in his blog. I got a two out of three; I am so a Trekkie :-D

2. Hodgman equates Rachel Maddow with bee knees :-D You know, I wish I had MSNBC. I would love to watch The Countdown with Keith Olbermann (and occasionally Rachel Maddow). And yet I can't. Woe :-(

3. Okay, so. On Monday's Report Stephen talked about Barack Obama's recent stint on the bowling circuit. Obama did rather poorly; in fact, I believe Stephen said he should 'work on his stance.' This gave me Thoughts.

I'm not alone here, right? I mean ... where else have we heard Stephen Colbert talking about bowling stances? Oh, yeah, here.

Dancing Muchachos )

1. Paul cannot dance. That said, I can't dance either, and I applaud his comfort doing it in public. He's not terrible, just ... unskilled.

2. This cheers me up :-D

3. Stephen has a nice voice. Case in point.

I was in a television sort of mood the other day, so I popped in one of my Strangers With Candy DVDs and watched a few episodes. Man, I love that show.

Anyway (and I'm sure those familiar with the show will understand), I now have a certain song stuck in my head. Well, two songs, but this is the only one I could find on YouTube :-P

Those familiar with the show will know what the other song is ...

1. We went through four rolls of packing tape at work today. We had this huge Ayaya job that was being shipped to a dozen different places - all double boxed. When you double box something, it needs to practically enrobed in packing tape. It took ages. It was kinda fun :-D

2. Comic (The Home of Adolf Hitler, 1933: Doubt Creeps In)

3. Anderson Cooper, on The Conan O'Brian Show. The Ahnold moment = hillarity.

We have a long weekend here in Ontario, just kinda for the hell of it. It is nice to have a stat holiday in February, and I'm using the opportunity to have a lazy weekend.

If sexuality meta is your thing, check out this post by sailorptah. Enjoy the pictures and attached survey.

This song is growing on me.

Actually, make that a great mood. The writer's strike? Over! I was pretty happy about that. And if you read my previous entry (wow, I'm posting more than usual this week), you'll know that I have other reasons to be happy, too.

As such, I feel compelled to spread the love. Right now, that means sharing these cheery YouTube links:

Rabbit Rescue - I do not care that this is an advertisement for Microsoft, because it is adorable. Amy Sedaris is awesome. Rabbits are cute. Go watch.

Eric Drysdale and his Rubic's Cube - Apparently Bobby has some skills. Also? Funny.

Not on YouTube, but: Time Traveling Lesbian is a series of shorts funded by HBO and starring Rebecca Drysdale (the above Eric's sister). They are weird, in a funny way, and have just enough of a plot for you to want a full series. Also, favourite line: "Immortality is the rock that beats the scissors of sexuality" (ep. 3)

1. It has been quite cold the last few days. Luckily (luckily!) it's supposed to snow tomorrow. That means it's going to warm up; it's too cold to snow right now :-(

2. Have a song about pirates.

3. I have my fingers crossed for an end to the writer's strike - it's pretty much official at this point, finally. Meanwhile, I have been watching the writerless TADS and TCR, and there was a funny exchange at the end of Monday's TCR interview:

Zimbardo: Obviously, you learned well in Sunday School.
Stephen: I teach Sunday School, motherf*#er!

My mother did a spittake at that, I swear to god :-D

4. Speaking if Stephen --> behind the scenes at the pundit brawl.

5. I like it when my fandoms collide.

6. And, um, Torchwood's cool. I just felt like mentioning it. sam_storyteller recently wrote some nice Torchwood fic. Ianto-centric :-)

Tags:link, tcr, tds, this box will change your life

1. Happy belated Quinquagesima Monday! Only 50ish days until Easter, if that's your thing.

2. John Hodgman (total nutter, cool guy) is an Obama supporter, and posted this a few days ago. Powerful stuff, and a clever idea, whether you agree with his politics or not.

3. Wil Wheaton (also, apparently, an Obama supporter, but that's beside the point ...) mentioned Keith David in his blog the other day! It was in regards to voice acting and some reviewer's poor opinion of the art. As someone who doesn't partake in gaming but who is an old Keith David fan, I was thrilled to hear he's doing well. He has a great voice.

4. CONAN O'BRIEN VS. STEPHEN COLBERT VS. JON STEWART IS THE GREATEST CELEBRITY FEUD EVER. Seriously, though, that was some damn fine television. The parts on Jon and Stephen's show are also worth watching - the hallway scenes are particularly funny. BOBBY PIN.
